DO:
- Use protective items such as coasters, trivets, and placemats under glasses, hot dishes, china, and plates to prevent stains and scratches.
- Place a rug or mat at entry ways to trap dirt and sand from normal foot traffic.
- Quick dusting and cleaning should be done frequently and also accompanied by periodic deep cleaning.
- Always use a neutral PH cleaner on all stone surfaces.
- Clean up spills immediately to minimize damage.
- Minimize soap scum and squeegee after each use for stone shower walls.
- Use a terry cloth or microfiber towel when cleaning.
DON’T:
- Allow acidic or alkaline substances in contact with stone surfaces. This includes but is not limited to; vinegar, wine, and lemon juice.
- Use green or brown scouring pads. The abrasive grit in them may scratch even the toughest stone.
- Use nail polish, hair color, or hair spray.
- Place any wet bottle such as perfumes or after-shaves directly on bathroom countertops. Keep cosmetics and fragrances in appropriate containers.
- Drag heavy objects across stone floors
- Allow water to stand around sinks. This will cause deterioration of the stone over time. This includes letting plants sit on top of countertops as it can soak into the countertop and cause staining.
- Cut directly on granite or natural stone.
- Use dish soap, vinegar, bleach, ammonia, or general purpose cleaners, bathroom cleaners, tub cleaners, or tile cleaners.
